  • 1 cup (240ml) Mayonnaise Full-fat preferred
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) Sour Cream Adds thickness
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) Buttermilk For classic tang
  • 1/4 cup (57g) Salted Butter Melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 cloves Garlic Finely minced
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Dijon Mustard Helps emulsify
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Lemon Juice Freshly squeezed
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) Fresh Parsley Finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Dried Chives
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) Cracked Black Pepper Coarse grind

Equipment

  • 1 Glass Mason Jar 12 oz or 16 oz size
  • 1 Whisk For a smooth base

Method
 

Mix the Ranch Base
  1. In a bowl, whisk mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk until smooth and ivory-colored.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic, Dijon, lemon juice, half the parsley, and dried chives.
The Cowboy Finish
  1. Pour the mixture into a glass mason jar. Drizzle the melted butter over the top and gently swirl with a knife.
  2. Heavily garnish with remaining parsley, red pepper flakes, and cracked black pepper.

Notes

Use room temperature dairy to prevent the butter from seizing.
Let sit for 30 minutes in the fridge for the best flavor development.
