Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter softened (227g)
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar packed (200g)
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar 100g
  • 1 Large Egg room temperature
  • 2 tsp Maple Extract 10ml
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour 375g
  • 1 tbsp Ground Cinnamon 8g
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg 0.5g
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda 5g
  • 1/2 tsp Salt 3g
  • 1.5 cups Powdered Sugar 180g
  • 2 tbsp Heavy Cream 30ml
  • 1 tsp Maple Syrup 5ml
  • 1 tbsp Granulated Sugar and Cinnamon for dusting

Equipment

  • 2 Baking Sheet Parchment-lined
  • 1 Electric Hand Mixer Or stand mixer

Method

Make the Dough
  1. Cream softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and maple extract and beat until combined.
  2. Whisk together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients until a thick dough forms.
Bake the Cookies
  1. Scoop 3-tablespoon sized balls onto a baking sheet. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden-brown and the tops have a crinkled texture.
Glaze and Finish
  1. Whisk powdered sugar, cream, and maple syrup until smooth and thick. Spoon over slightly warm cookies, allowing it to pool toward the edges.
  2. Immediately sprinkle with granulated sugar crystals and a dusting of ground cinnamon.

Notes

Ensure butter is properly softened for the best crinkled texture.
Do not skip the maple extract; it is essential for the authentic French toast flavor profile.
