Ingredients

Garlic Butter Spread
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted Butter softened
  • 2 cloves Garlic finely minced
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Parsley chopped
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
For the Sandwich
  • 4 slices Thick-Sliced Bread such as Texas toast or sourdough
  • 4 slices Provolone Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Shredded Low-Moisture Mozzarella Cheese

Equipment

  • 1 Non-stick Skillet
  • 1 Spatula

Method

  1. Make the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt. Mix until everything is well incorporated.
  2. Prepare the Bread: Lay out the 4 slices of bread. Spread the garlic butter evenly on one side of each slice.
  3. Assemble the Sandwiches: Place two slices of bread butter-side down in a large non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Layer 2 slices of provolone and 1/4 cup of mozzarella on each slice.
  4. Top It Off: Place the remaining two slices of bread on top of the cheese, with the buttered side facing up.
  5. Grill to Perfection: Cook for 4-5 minutes per side. The bread should be golden brown and crispy, and the cheese should be fully melted. Press down gently with a spatula as it cooks.
  6. Serve Hot: Remove from skillet, slice diagonally, and serve immediately.

Notes

Best Cheese Tip: For the ultimate cheese pull, use low-moisture mozzarella combined with a flavorful cheese like provolone or cheddar. Grating your own cheese from a block yields the best results.
Cooking Tip: Maintain a medium-low heat to ensure the cheese melts perfectly without the bread burning. Covering the pan for a minute can help speed up the melting process.
