Ground Turkey Skillet with Sautéed Mushrooms and Spinach

Ingredients
  

Skillet Ingredients
  • 1 lb Ground Turkey 93% lean recommended
  • 8 oz Cremini Mushrooms Sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 3 cups Fresh Baby Spinach Packed
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion Diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil Divided
  • 1/4 cup Chicken Bone Broth Or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 tsp Sea Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Cracked Black Pepper Freshly ground

Equipment

  • 1 Black Cast Iron Skillet Ensures the best sear and browning.
  • 1 Wooden spoon For breaking up turkey crumbles.

Method
 

Cooking Process
  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a cast iron skillet. Add mushrooms in a single layer and sear for 3-5 minutes until edges are golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  2. Add remaining oil and onions to the skillet. Sauté until translucent. Add ground turkey and cook undisturbed for 4 minutes to brown. Break into crumbles.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Pour in chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the pan. Stir mushrooms back in to coat in the sauce.
  4. Add spinach on top and cover for 1 minute until wilted. Season with salt and a generous sprinkle of cracked black pepper. Serve warm.

Notes

Use a 93/7 lean turkey blend to ensure the meat doesn't dry out.
For a deeper sauce, add a splash of Worcestershire or coconut aminos.
