  • 1/2 cup (120ml) Mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Yellow Mustard
  • 1 tsp (5ml) White Vinegar
The Burger Construction
  • 1/4 lb (113g) Ground Beef (80/20) Divided into two 2oz patties
  • 1 set Sesame Seed Buns Top, Bottom, and Middle slice
  • 1 slice Yellow American Cheese
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) Iceberg Lettuce Finely shredded
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) White Onion Finely diced
  • 2 slices Crinkle-Cut Pickles

Equipment

  • 1 Cast Iron Skillet For searing patties
  • 1 Small mixing bowl For the sauce

Method
 

Prepare Ingredients
  1. Whisk mayonnaise, relish, mustard, vinegar, and spices until orange-pink; refrigerate.
  2. Shred the iceberg lettuce finely and dice the white onion into small pieces.
Cook and Assemble
  1. Cook two thin beef patties in a hot skillet for 2 minutes per side; add cheese to one patty.
  2. Toast buns. Assemble: Bottom bun, sauce, onion, lettuce, cheese, patty, middle bun, sauce, onion, lettuce, pickles, patty, top bun.

Notes

Use a cold skillet to press patties very thin before heating for the best crust.
Let the sauce sit for 30 minutes to develop the classic flavor.
