Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 cups (500g) Bread Flour Or All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup (240ml) Warm Milk 105°F
  • 2 tbsp (25g) Granulated Sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp (7g) Active Dry Yeast 1 packet
  • 1 large Egg Room temperature
  • 4 tbsp (56g) Unsalted Butter Softened
  • 1 tsp (6g) Fine Sea Salt
  • 2 tbsp Melted Butter For brushing

Equipment

  • 1 Stand Mixer With dough hook attachment
  • 1 Baking Sheet
  • 1 Parchment Paper
  • 1 Pastry Brush For butter wash

Method

Dough Preparation
  1. Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a stand mixer bowl. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add egg and half the flour. Mix with dough hook. Add salt and remaining flour. Gradually add softened butter. Knead for 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 60-90 minutes until doubled in size.
Shaping and Baking
  1. Divide dough into 10-12 equal pieces. Roll into rectangles and roll up tightly into cylinders. Place on a parchment paper base, close together.
  2. Cover and let rise for 45-60 minutes until puffy and touching.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 15-18 minutes until deep golden-brown on top.
  4. Brush immediately with melted butter for a glossy sheen. Cool on a wire rack.

Notes

Use a kitchen scale for perfectly even buns.
Ensure milk is between 100-110°F to avoid killing the yeast.
