  • 2 large Hoagie Rolls Split lengthwise
  • 4 slices Provolone Cheese Aged or mild
  • 4 oz (113g) Genoa Salami Thinly sliced
  • 2 oz (56g) Pepperoni Sliced
  • 2 oz (56g) Prosciutto Paper-thin slices
  • 2 cups (150g) Iceberg Lettuce Finely shredded
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) Mayonnaise Full fat preferred
  • 1/4 cup (30g) Red Onion Thinly sliced half-moons
  • 1/4 cup (40g) Pepperoncinis Sliced yellow rings
  • 1 tsp (1g) Dried Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp (1g) Black Pepper Freshly cracked

Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheet For toasting the rolls
  • 1 Mixing Bowl For the grinder salad

Method
 

Toast and Melt
  1. Open the hoagie rolls and place them on a baking sheet. Broil for 1-2 minutes until edges are golden-brown.
  2. Layer provolone, salami, pepperoni, and prosciutto onto the toasted rolls. Broil for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and slightly browned.
The Salad Topping
  1. In a bowl, toss shredded lettuce, red onions, pepperoncinis, mayo, oregano, and black pepper until thick and creamy.
  2. Pile the salad high onto the hot meat and cheese layers. Slice diagonally and serve immediately.

Notes

Use a high-quality hoagie roll to ensure it doesn't get soggy.
Rinse sliced onions in cold water to remove harsh flavors.
