  • 1 lb Ground Turkey 93% lean recommended
  • 1 tsp Dried Parsley For herb flecks
  • 1 tsp Dried Chives
  • 0.5 tsp Salt and Pepper Adjust to taste
  • 4 slices Cheddar Cheese Sharp or mild
  • 4 units Brioche Buns Toasted
  • 1 large Tomato Vine-ripened, sliced
  • 1 small Red Onion Sliced into rings
  • 4 leaves Green Leaf Lettuce
  • 0.25 cup Creamy Mustard Sauce Mix of mayo and dijon

Equipment

  • 1 Cast Iron Skillet
  • 1 Instant-Read Thermometer To ensure internal temp reaches 165F.

Method
 

Prep the Patties
  1. In a bowl, gently combine ground turkey, herbs, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 thick patties with a dimple in the center.
Cook the Burgers
  1. Heat oil in a skillet. Sear patties for 5-6 minutes until a deep brown crust forms.
  2. Flip the burgers, add cheese, and cover with a lid. Cook for 2-3 more minutes until the cheese is cascading and internal temp is 165F.
Assemble
  1. Spread mustard sauce on the toasted bun. Layer lettuce, patty with cheese, tomato, and red onion rings.

Notes

Do not overmix the meat or the burger will be tough.
Using 93% lean turkey is the secret to moisture.
