Instructions
- Heat avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped white onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Season with salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Cook for 6-8 minutes until browned. Drain excess grease.
- Add broccoli florets and beef broth to the skillet. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat, cover, and cook for 5-7 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp and vibrant green.
- Uncover the skillet and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Turn off the heat, cover the pan again for 1-2 minutes to allow the cheese to melt completely.
- Serve immediately in bowls with an extra sprinkle of black pepper.
Notes
Don't Crowd the Pan: Use a large enough skillet to ensure the beef browns properly rather than steams.
Fresh is Best: Fresh broccoli florets will give you the best vibrant green color and crisp texture.
Shred Your Own Cheese: For the best gooey, melted topping, buy a block of cheddar and shred it yourself.
Taste and Adjust: Always taste the dish before serving and adjust seasoning if needed.
