Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 6 slices Thick-cut white bread Texas Toast or Brioche
  • 4 slices Smoked ham Thinly sliced
  • 4 slices Roasted turkey breast Thinly sliced
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese For melting
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour (125g)
  • 3/4 cup Whole milk (180ml)
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar For dusting
  • 1/2 cup Raspberry preserves Seedless, for dipping

Equipment

  • 1 Deep Fryer or Dutch Oven For frying
  • 1 Fine-mesh Sieve For powdered sugar

Method

Assembly & Frying
  1. Layer ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese between three slices of thick bread to create two triple-decker sandwiches.
  2. Whisk flour, milk, eggs, and baking powder until smooth. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Dip sandwiches into batter, coating fully. Deep fry until golden brown and bubbly (about 3 mins per side).
  4. Drain, dust heavily with powdered sugar, and serve with raspberry preserves.

Notes

Maintain oil at exactly 350°F to prevent sogginess.
Always sift the powdered sugar for a professional finish.
