  • 1.5 tbsp Baking Powder 21g
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter 113g, cold and grated
  • 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese 226g, freshly shredded
  • 1 cup Whole Milk 240ml
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter 57g, melted
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp Dried Parsley Flakes

Equipment

  • 1 9x5 Inch Loaf Pan Light-colored metal preferred
  • 1 Box Grater For butter and cheese

Method

Preparation
  1. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Grate cold butter into the mix.
  2. Add the sharp cheddar cheese and fold gently. Pour in milk and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Divide dough into 8-10 squares and stack vertically in a greased loaf pan to create the craggy top.
  4. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 35 minutes until peaks are deep amber and cheese is bubbling.
  5. Brush the glistening garlic butter and parsley mixture over the hot loaf immediately.

Notes

Use cold butter for the fluffiest interior.
Do not overmix the dough or the bread will be tough.
